Dehydration

I have a really hard time drinking enough water throughout the day and today i am suffering for it. I went for a 6 mile run this afternoon and did not drink anything until after. Didnt really think it was a big deal, but then i got this headache that would just not go away. Tonight at sun run training, there was a guest speaker who talked about dehydration and how it can lead to headaches like the one i have.. i never really put it together before, but now that i know, im going to try a little bit harder to drink more water. So hard to do though!

I hear you on the dehydration portion. I actually find it easier for me to get my water in during the week when I can carry my nalgene bottle with me around the school. On weekends it's a little harder to do!

I mix gookinaid in my water and take a mouthful every 10 minutes of the run. This keeps me hydrated without drinking so much that I need to stop and pee. By drinking something with electrolytes you replace the elements that get sweated out. Much better than water alone. Good luck with your running! BTW, you can find gookinaid in smaller packets at REI. (no affiliation with these companies .. just passing on what works for me)

Wow, how crazy... the same exact thing happened to me yesterday when I went out for a tempo run. I was thirsty on the 6 mile run and realized I hadn't had ANY water all day long... It was really bad and I felt sick afterwards. It's always so difficult to drink more water!
